Jonas Dupuich lives in Alameda, CA and grew up in a nursery family.  Jonas got his bonsai start over twenty years ago when he met Boon Manakitivipart styling a neglected black pine at his family’s nursery.  Jonas spent more than two decades studying with Boon, was a founding member of Bay Island Bonsai (BIB) a premier bonsai club with a cutting-edge quality bonsai exhibit, and the originator of Bonsai Tonight and the Blog. In 2015, Jonas quit his day job and became a full-time bonsai professional. Jonas and Eric Shrader are the creators of the Pacific Bonsai Expo held first in the Fall of 2022 and being held again in 2024 (About – Pacific Bonsai Expo) in the Oakland, California area.

We are pleased to announce that Julian Tsai has agreed to teach our next Fundamentals group. Julian is a bonsai professional from Southern California. He spent two years apprenticing at Fujikawa Kouka-en, in Osaka, before Covid and other factors shortened his stay. He has spent considerable amount of time with Peter Tea, honing his techniques and developmental skills. He is passionate about creating and developing bonsai that will be generational.
