November & December 2017

A Publication of the Minnesota Bonsai Society

November 7th - General Meeting - This month we'll be discussing the concepts of bifurcation and ramification.  Sound interesting?  Probably not, but essential to developing bonsai.   Learn some of the reasons why bonsai are developed and styled the way they are.  There will be a slide presentation of trees growing in granite on an Island in Acadia National Park followed by discussion of tree branch development, wiring and placing of branches and the treatment of deadwood.   This is a great time of year to see the structure of deciduous trees and to work on dead wood.   Nominations for the 2018 Board of Directors will close at this meeting.  We are still short a few volunteers, so please consider serving on the board.

December 5th - General Meeting - It's the election of the 2018 Board of Directors followed by the holiday party.  Join us for an evening of shared food and good company.  Bring a potluck dish (and serving tool if needed) to share, the society provides meat/cheese tray, buns and drinks.
